Andrew McLaughlin

Andrew McLaughlin is an award-winning Defence and Aerospace journalist of 25 years standing.

Starting as a freelance features writer in 1997, in 2005 Andrew became Deputy Editor of Australian Aviation magazine and in 2009 became Editor of Australian Defence Business Review (ADBR) magazine and the weekly Defence Industry and Aerospace Report electronic newsletter.

Seven years later Andrew left the media and was appointed as Strategic Communications Advisor to Defence’s New Air Combat Capability office and, in 2015, Communications Advisor for Northrop Grumman Australia.

In late 2017, Andrew returned to the media, taking on the role Managing Editor of ADBR and the ADBR.com.au website.

As a journalist, Andrew has been recognised as the Australia and New Zealand Aviation Press Club’s ‘Aviation Journalist of the Year’ on three occasions, and has won the ‘Best Defence Story’, ‘Best Technical Story’ and ‘Best Feature Story’ categories seven times.
